The project consists of the removal of the heating units at buildings "B" and "C" and providing new HVAC units at building "B" and "C" and associated new steel beams at buildings "B" and "C" to support new HVAC units. The project started on May 22, 2015 upon completion of school. The demolition at the exterior and interior is complete. The project has new ductwork and HVAC unit in place for the area serving the staff lunch area in C.
The project has completed the scope and is continuing with commissioning the units and punchlist.
This month’s focus was on Building B, Auditorium. Completed the support steel for the new roof penetrations and replaced the decking. The roof was completed for the Building C this month. Building B's steel supports were installed and the roofing decking replacement is in progress. The new electrical feed for the units’ progresses and the gas is complete, pending the new unit connections.
The pool was turned over to the site on 8/26/15 for use.

Pool deck is graded. East retaining wall is complete. West bleacher extension wall is poured. Stair & ADA ramp footings are complete. Building concrete slabs are poured. Doors are installed at the new equipment rooms. Underground pool deck slot drain is ongoing. Gutter framing is ongoing. South fence posts are installed. Cafeteria re-roofing is ongoing.
Pool Improvements:
Underground pool plumbing and electrical is complete. Underground storm drain is ongoing. Roofing has started. Balance of retaining walls is ongoing. Bleacher extension is ongoing. Phase 2 demo/grading/site work has started. New pool supply building/rooms are ongoing.
Press box and Bleacher Addition:
All items complete less punchlist and state elevator inspection. The added window shutters are installed.
Shade structure erection at all three sites has been completed. Slab on grade concrete work at all three sites completed. LOHS remaining activities are parking lot striping & truncated domes. New structures at LOHS have been ordered. CHS remaining activities are CMU surrounds, parking lot striping/truncated domes. MHS remaining activities are CMU surrounds, parking lot striping, truncated & traffic domes, new irrigation at quad and sod.
Shade structure erection at all three sites is complete. Concrete slab on grade at Los Osos has been completed along with all CMU surrounds and joint sealants. Concrete slab on grade at Colony High School has been completed. CMU surrounds started at Colony High School. Rebar work for slab on grade at Montclair High School currently in progress.

Press box: Tie in electrical for press box and commence electrical for elevator. Complete bleachers and press box perimeter, ramps and stairs. Begin siding for the elevator and begin fire alarm tie in.
The Pool: New pump pit is excavated. New building, ramps & stair footings are complete. Footing for east retaining wall is complete. Pool surge pit excavation has started. Shotcrete for pool bottom, walls & lower gutter is complete. Gutter forming is ongoing. Ceramic tile at water line has started.
The Press box: Set the press box and elevator this month. Continue to work on the bleacher installation. The team completed the seating at the bleachers and commenced railings and stairs. The ADA upgrades in restrooms and pulled primary and secondary electrical were completed this month.

Pool Phase 1 demolition is complete. The pool contractor is on-site and is currently shaping the pool and installing pool gutter forms. The plumber and electrician have started underground utilities in the pool equipment room as well as the pool deck. The concrete contractor has started the retaining wall footing on the east end of the site.
The press box and bleacher addition has critical procurement of the bleacher material complete and is ready to ship. The placement of footing rebar is complete at the bleacher and elevator footing. The concrete placement of the elevator pit walls is complete. The ADA upgrades in the bathrooms have commenced. The electrical rough-in for the press box and elevator is in progress.
The pool project consists of the demolition and replacement of the swimming pool and associated pool equipment. New bleacher seating is also being added to the pool equipment building.
The pool demolition contractor mobilized and set up construction entrance. Temporary fencing was installed. Existing pools, pool equipment and pool deck concrete has all been demolished. Pool equipment building slab concrete demolition is ongoing. Excavation and re-compaction for the new pool is currently underway.
The press box and bleacher addition project consists of the demolition of the existing press box and replacing it with a new press box with an elevator and approximately 1,000 additional bleacher seats and associated ADA upgrades for path of travel.
The press box had the required demolition completed to excavate and recompact for the bleacher and elevator footings.
During August, the existing domestic water line was re-routed outside the future exterior basketball courts and underground storage tank areas. Following completion, the system was chlorinated, sampled, and approved. Final P.O.C. connections were completed after hours to avoid impacts to school operations, students, and staff. Over-excavation was performed in areas not affected by existing SCE underground utility pathways. TCC coordinated with the grading/demolition and utility contractors to determine the required excavation depths beneath future foundations. SCE is scheduled to perform a site power shutdown on August 30, 2025. During this time, SCE will remove existing conductors, install new conductors through newly placed conduits outside the building footprint, and re-energize the site the same day. Additionally, the project repositioned the new 84’-0” exterior basketball courts to avoid existing underground utilities that could not be relocated.
Following the successful shutdown and transfer of electrical services by SCE on August 30, 2025, several key construction activities were completed throughout the month of September: - All open SCE point-of-connection (P.O.C.) trenches were backfilled and compacted. - Final positioning of the exterior basketball court was completed, ensuring proper alignment and required clearances from existing underground utilities in preparation for future basketball equipment installation. - Over-excavation of the new gym building footprint and underground storm chamber areas was completed. - The building pad was certified in accordance with the project’s geotechnical and design requirements. - New underground storm chamber systems and associated underground structures were successfully installed. - All underground utilities outside the main building footprint were installed, including sanitary sewer, storm drain piping, fire service piping, and domestic water piping. - Foundation excavations began, and foundation rebar installation is currently underway. Foundation concrete placement is scheduled for early October.
Following the successful completion of the building foundations, several key construction activities were completed throughout the month of October. Construction of the project mock-up structure was completed, including polished concrete, CMU, and ceramic tile mock-ups. Plaster and paint mock-ups are scheduled to follow. Building foundations were poured, including all future MEP pipe sleeves. CMU starter courses were installed and grouted to 8 inches above finished floor (AFF) throughout the building. Upon completion, fine grading of the slab-on-grade (SOG) areas was performed, followed by installation of sand bedding and SOG reinforcing steel. Outside the main building, asphalt replacement and select concrete paving were completed. While the project experienced rain events from October 14 through October 16, these conditions did not impact the overall project schedule.
Following the successful completion of the building’s starter course masonry to 8 inches above finished floor (AFF), several key construction activities were completed throughout the month of November. All slab-on-grade (SOG) concrete floors were poured and finished in both exposed and non-exposed areas. Immediately following the slab installations, CMU wall construction began. By the end of November, the first and second CMU lifts—reaching up to 10 feet—were installed and grouted. Required hollow metal door frames were installed concurrently as CMU work progressed. Outside the main building, the underground clarifier concrete structure and the fiberglass pumping station were installed. Portions of the building’s structural steel were also delivered to the site in preparation for upcoming installations. The project experienced a rain event on November 14; however, it did not impact the overall schedule.
Following the successful installation and grouting of the first and second CMU lifts in November, CMU lifts three through six were completed throughout the month of December. All 8-inch CMU walls are now 100% complete to their respective heights of 20 feet and 22 feet. These walls include all required MEP sleeving, CMU openings, and structural steel embeds and ledgers. The Main Gym’s 12-inch CMU walls have been constructed to an elevation of 31 feet 4 inches, out of a final height of 36 feet. Completion remains on track for January 14, 2026, in accordance with the project’s baseline schedule. Early completion of the 8-inch CMU walls allowed lower roof structural steel installation to begin on January 7, 2026—approximately two weeks ahead of schedule. Fabrication of all lower roof structural steel has been completed, and materials have been delivered to the site in preparation for installation beginning January 7, 2026. Fabrication of the Main Gym’s structural steel tapered girders is currently underway and scheduled for delivery by January 16, 2026, with installation anticipated to begin on January 19, 2026—one week ahead of the baseline schedule. As installation of the main building’s structural steel progresses, construction of the site retaining walls and exterior canopy foundations will also commence. Similar to the previous month, December experienced two rain days; however, these did not impact the project’s overall completion date.
